About Corry Frydlewicz

Corry and her dog Rogue smiling in front of the cake art piece in Emeryville

This is my first time running for public office. I’ve been a dishwasher, server, stocker, game designer, coder, and laid-off team leader for an international clothing brand. Today, I’m a technology specialist for a local law firm who sues big tech companies, banks, and other corporate monsters on behalf of regular citizens like us. My career has been about flexibly being whatever my team needs and getting obstacles out of their way when they’re on the right track.

Politically, I’m anti-authoritarian. My parents were both public school teachers, so I was holding signs on union picket lines as a toddler. I’m a pragmatic abolitionist who believes in decriminalizing the lives of regular folks and keeping the government out of our private business.

Today, U.S. politics are a nightmare I’ve warned about for most of my life. I can no longer fight solely as a keyboard warrior, volunteer, and single face in the crowd at protests. When ICE agents began invading our cities, my first reaction was fear.

After preparing my family for worst case scenarios, I tried to think of the best ways to protect our community. Rather than run or hide, I decided to play to my strengths. I’m ready to offer my skills and experience in official public service.

You’ll find me walking around our city with my small family. Grabbing brunch at Doyle Street Cafe, coffee at Black Diamond Cafe, dinner at Public Market, drinks at Honor Kitchen & Cocktails, and movies at Bay Street. If you’re kind and respectful, you’re welcome to say hi and ask me questions! I’m somewhat introverted, but I’ll do my best!

My Identity

I’m a transgender woman. My pronouns are she/her. Thank you for your effort and respect.

Political Party

Emeryville City Council is a non-partisan office, but I won’t “dodge the question”.

If running for office was an honest business, I’d run as an Independent. Because our system is oriented to only truly empowering two parties, I’ll always be in the one farther from fascism, white supremacy, and supporting carceral systems: a Democrat.

I aim to follow in the footsteps of Democratic politicians like AOC, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Barbara Lee, Jackie Fielder, Ilhan Omar, Sarah McBride, and Zooey Zephyr. People aiming to push the party to contrast itself more from Republicans.

Bigger Than One City

For those who wish to know my stances on issues beyond the scope of city council. While I aim to focus city council’s time and resources on issues we can actually impact, that doesn’t change where my heart is.

  • 🍉 Free Palestine.
  • ❤️🖤💚 Black lives matter.
  • 🏳️‍⚧️ Trans rights are human rights.
  • ☀️ No human is illegal.
  • ⛓️‍💥 Abolish the death penalty and prisons.
  • 🫄 Pro-choice.
  • 🌹 Healthcare is a human right. We need single payer universal healthcare and child care.
  • 🔐 Privacy rights.

All these issues are more complex than a quick blurb can adequately cover, so feel free to ask me about them. (Hint: chances are I’ve written about them over the years.)

I’ve had this website since I was a teenager.

There’s some embarrassing sh*t here. Feel free to dig in — I burned my closet on the way out, so the skeletons in there are sun-bleached.
