June Updates

Hey Everyone,

Sorry for my lack of posts this past week (or more), but I’ve got all kinds of stuff going on lately.

What I’m Doing

I’m really excited about a 3rd/4th Face-to-Face interview I have with a company in Maryland on Monday. I’m psyched about working in a Casual Environment again and they have great benefits. Hopefully, this will allow me to move out there earlier than expected too, but we’ll see.

I’ve been working with my concept artists on getting more art for my Animosity storyline. I may be working on some character bios and glossary descriptions as well to aid the readers in navigating the world of Pangaea. So I’m sorry if I’m not doing weekly posts as much lately, but there are things in the pipes.

Otherwise, I’ve been working on my writing career in the field of Food Columns. I’ve been offered a column in the Baltimore Examiner (part-time) for this and I’m working on my chops using Yelp.com and other avenues. I’m trying to focus on being very brief while still adding details. It’s a fun excuse to eat at a new restaurant every week too. I can’t eat at Baltimore area places yet for obvious reasons, so I’m just doing Vegas stuff now.

What I’m Consum(er)ing

For the most part, I’m loving my new HTC EVO 4G from Sprint. It’s a beautiful machine once you figure out its quirks and download the right apps. Anyone who follows me on Twitter could see my frustration with it, but I’ve got most of it fixed. I’m looking forward to playing a butt-load of SNES games on the Emulator app I downloaded on my plane ride.

Since Kati moved away with my TV and video game systems, my entertainment has consisted almost entirely of Netflix streamed movies and shows. I’m in the final discs of Battlestar Galactica and I’ve been really into it ever since season 2 started. My co-worker got me started and I didn’t like it that much at first, but it really picks up at the end of Season One.

Archer (Netflix) made me laugh my ass off too. I was sad that there’s only one season available. I don’t miss cable TV at all really, because the internet rules.

On the weekends I’ve taken it upon myself to go outdoors more without spending money, so I’ve been reading by the pool at my apartment complex. It’s quite relaxing and I’ve gotten through some cool Ghost in the Shell Manga that I’ve been meaning to finish for months. I just started Volume two last week and it’s pretty cool, too. I recommend it mostly for nerds like me who can’t get enough of GiTS.

I’ve been listening to a bunch of cool music lately that I recently discovered (or recently remembered). Hail The Villain‘s album Population: Declining has been a bright new light in my playlist. They’ve got a great hard rock sound without being a sensory overload or emo-fest like many over-the top acts tend to be these days.

I finally grabbed the Cage The Elephant album despite how resistant I was before. It’s actually very good and deserves a listen. They are unique and creative is their sound even if they are being overplayed everywhere on the radio.

And FINALLY! A good Sevendust Album! Cold Day Memory is the first Sevendust album since Animosity that I think actually adds to their legacy. It’s not amazing or anything, but it’s definitely a great addition to my fanboy collection of Sevendust stuff. As much as I hate to say it, I think the hit song Unraveling is the best one.

How to Destroy Angels has a cool album, but it’s way too short and only two tracks are really getting much play from me. To be fair… that it 33% of the album which is posted for free on their website. A Drowning and The Space in Between (awesome video below) are both pretty awesome tracks.

I’m enjoying the new Deftones album. It’s half chill and half rock and it’s a really good balance for them I think. Haven’t listened to much Deftones since White Pony so Diamond Eyes is a welcome release.

Next week, I’ll be posting an article with all the great Las Vegas eateries that I’m going to miss when I move. Those would normally be included in my consumption list here.
