Rogue E. Pierogi

After my wife showed me Brandon Soublet’s adorable page about Temba, I realized he’s serious and I had to keep up in the arms race. 😆

She’s a boundary-pusher who’ll try to lick your face the second you let your guard down. She also plays with her food, literally. She pulls individual pieces of kibble from her bowl and flings it into the air and tackles it before eating it. She’s a wild child, but also incredibly cuddly and affectionate.

How Rogue Got Her Name

Rogue is a foster fail from Companion Animal Community Center. When I met her there in late 2023 her name was Tina, but when she played with my wife’s dog Maupin, it was clear she was a Rogue. She was 1 year old and only 14 lbs. to his 2.5 years and 18 lbs., but she kept him on his toes the whole time. And she fought the way a rogue would in a D&D battle. As soon as I called her that name, she paid attention and seemed to love it.

I also sometimes attribute her name to my favorite X-Men hero, a similarly way-too-strong-for-her-size character with a spicy attitude.

Rogue’s Love Language: Violence

Since arriving at her forever home with me, she’s bullied her way into the hearts of many friends in the Bridgewater courtyard and beyond. Usually starting her relationships on the wrong foot by barking and growling at them until they pay attention to her and fight with her the way she wants them to.

Usually, the growling and trash talk are all fun and games but she does have a few actual enemies. Other dogs in the neighborhood who threaten her rein on that territory. But we do our best to keep the peace — a noisy sort of peace.

Rogue’s Role in Corry’s Campaign

For the most part, Rogue’s just at the events to enjoy the party. But she also brings comfort to Corry’s mild social anxieties. She’s also the official mascot of the campaign.
