Short First-person Blurb
Hi neighbor! My name is Corry, and I want to join our city council this November. I love Emeryville, and want the city to function smoothly so we can keep our people safe, housed, healthy, and prosperous. I’m running a low-waste campaign where I won’t ask anything from you except your vote, so check me out at corry4emeryville.com and tell your friends and neighbors to join us!
Long First-person Blurb
You may not have heard of me yet. My face isn’t on glossy mailers begging for campaign donations clogging your mailbox. I don’t buy donor lists or spam your email and phone with ads like other candidates do every election.
What I have is passion for helping our city get things done. I want to feel safe in my home. That includes safety from corporate and government interests taking away more of my freedom, time, privacy, and finances. I want to continue the great work our city is doing with housing, transportation, and investing in small local businesses. And I want to clear the way for reaching our collective goals.
I love it here. I put roots down in Emeryville in 2021 because I believe this is the most affordable, walkable, diverse sanctuary city in the Bay. I fondly imagine myself growing old with y’all. I want to set us up to succeed in the decades to come, no matter who or what tries to stop us. Go to corry4emeryville.com to learn more and find ways you can help!
Short Third-person Blurb
Corry is running for Emeryville city council with a focus on public safety, affordability, housing, supporting small business, and council productivity. She’s passionate about running a true grassroots campaign that won’t beg for donations, and wants to fight for the most vulnerable among city residents with real scientifically-determined solutions. Long Third-person Blurb
Corry arrived in the Bay Area a little over 15 years ago and immediately fell in love with the local art, food, and culture. Bouncing across the country to whatever cities could support her evolving career showed her a variety of ways cities could be run, and the consequences of those choices for someone whose lived most of their life paycheck-to-paycheck.
While Corry never really saw a career in politics in their future before, recent events in our country have given her a sense of urgency and responsibility to stand up and offer her skills and passion to this city she’s grown to adore. She aims to ensure Emeryville continues to do better on issues like public safety, housing, and supporting small local businesses. Bringing her skills and experience in management, consensus-building, and technical communications to the council.
Corry plans to differentiate herself from other candidates by declining donations. She refuses to plaster her face on ads all over the city or spam residents with messages. Is it naive to think she could win an election without these tactics? She doesn’t believe so, but you’ll be the ones who decide.
Candidate’s Statement for Voter Information Guide
[work in progress]
Tired of the drama in Emeryville politics? Wish our council focused on issues that actually make a difference in our lives? I’ve spent my career building flexible, sustainable teams who consistently avoid distractions and use solid management skills to get things done. Our city’s goals are solid. We care about affordability, housing, public safety, small businesses, education, parks, transit, the environment, supporting the arts, and much more. I don’t want to shift priorities. I want to tackle them more effectively using proven methods instead of tired old approaches moneyed interests sell us to keep funneling tax dollars to their rich buddies. We can focus on crime prevention by investing in city services instead of following in the failed footsteps of other cities toward overburdening and overbudgeting our police with tasks they shouldn’t have to worry about. We can truly step up efforts to help small local businesses compete with big chains dominating our marketplaces. Our sanctuary city can stop letting big tech spy on innocent civilians and better protect us from ICE and CBP. You probably haven’t heard about me on TV or spamming your inbox, but maybe you’ve seen me at the grocery store, local restaurants, singing karaoke, or walking my problematic chihuahua Rogue. I’m your neighbor, a regular working woman who can’t afford to run a big campaign and put her face on ads everywhere. Don’t let the rich and heavily funded folks buy your vote.
