Dear Jesse Arreguín (SB 690)
My name is Corry, and I’m a District 7 voter. I’m writing to urge you to oppose SB 690. My privacy is important to me. I don’t want businesses to be allowed to track or sell my online activity without my knowledge and express permission.
I’m concerned that these businesses could sell my information to ICE or other federal agencies to target my family, friends, and neighbors. I also have a sensitive medical diagnosis, so I’m concerned businesses could sell my information to a federal agency and put my family at risk.
Why would anyone who claims to represent my family and community would even consider supporting this bill? Please explain it to me if you can.
I hope you change your tune to not only oppose it but do so vocally. While I didn’t vote for you in the last election, you can earn my trust for the next one by standing up for us against big tech.
Thank you.
Write to your California State Senator today to oppose this bill.

I replied to this response with a question:
Can you at least explain how supporting this bill serves me as an individual citizen of California?
I sent this reply on May 23, 2025 within 30 minutes of the message above. They haven’t responded since. Nor have I seen a public statement explaining how this bill helps regular Californians.
